Some of you at New Canaan might have seen me topping off the trans on my car when I got there. I had a bad case of torque converter shutter on the trip up there and it turns out the trans was low. Well it turns out when I flushed out the trans, I didn't take into account that I'd be losing 16 quarts by flushing the trans cooler vs 13 quarts when leaving it alone like my friend did on his car. I had added 2 more quarts and thought it was fine but I didn't realize it was still low until my trip up there. Well I added another quart last night and just went out to test it today. The trans will hold 4th gear with the converter locked at 35mph up a hill with no problem so I'm calling it fixed.
Have a E39 M5 I saw on the way home

I would have probably freaked out depending on the "Oh Shit" level.

Lol, and that Lincoln better be the Ecoboost model, because why else spend the money on the MKS? :P

It's just your car crying over the fact that it only has 2 pedals.

This is a problem I plan to fix in the next 2-3 years, when I drop in a 5.0 stroker with a fully forged rotating assembly and repaint the whole car. The problem is, the "fix" costs more than a majority of hondas made before 2006

I can't even remember the last time I saw a MKS S outside of the dealer to be honest. The MKS S with the smoked headlights does look really cool though

I thought I was due for trans job #2 with a converter this time. I still haven't fixed the trans in the BMW I wasn't ready to drop it in this car. Getting the crossmember out of this car is a major major major bitch to, since its pressed into the frame very tight to help with rigidity.

Hmm, I can't recall if the S was a trim level independent of whether you ticked the EcoBoost option or not. I do know that you could have the EcoBoost w/o getting the S, but I don't know if you could have it vice-versa.
Anyhoooooo I do prefer it with the S-trim. I believe it firms up the suspension a bit, which ironically makes it handle more like an SHO.

Well, Every S I saw, all.... 5 of them, was an ecoboost. Maybe thats just how the dealer ordered them. One of my friends dads had two MKS's, a 09 and a 11 but neither one was an ecoboost or an S.

#doingitwrong, lol.
09 can somewhat be excused since the Eco came out in '10... But that '11? Might as well spend the money if you are going to spring for an MKS.
Although admittedly for me to get the eco-equipped SHO, it cost a whole lot more than picking up one otherwise-equipped. But so worth it...

I miss my P71 for that reason. So easy to lug around with the converter locked at low RPM.

Well they know how much money people are willing to waste on these cars. No reason not to price it down.

You could literally buy 3 police interceptors for the price of this kit, which is why the guy hasn't sold a single one so far
People who own crown vics don't have money to waste, thats why they drive crown vics

I HATED the stock trans tune that would lock into 4th at 25mph. My lidio tune wouldn't lock the converter under 59mph which made it really good to drive around but it sucked the MPG down. My current tune will lock at 49 and unlock at 34.

I wouldn't worry about it. I'm sure you'll work up to a Legacy or TL some day.

I had a long commute so the MPG advantage was nice. Constantly got between 22-23 with it, and that's with letting the glasspacks roar on the on-ramps. Daily.

Yeah on the highway it makes sense, but around town its so annoying lol
If it locks by 49mph its usually fine.

My brother in law had a 05 TL, it was a really nice car. If I was to buy any acura it'd probably be a 3rd gen TL-S (WITH A MANUAL). The older ones had shit transmissions (my friends 03 TL-S went through 3 of them and the 4th was on its way out by the time he sold it with 70k on it) and the new acuras, all of them, are ugly.
Anything I buy won't be a "me too" car, I see subarus all over the place at cars&coffee or track events. Granted the legacy isn't as popular but subaru interiors have always felt really cheap to me.

The Auto in the 2001-2003 TL is why I wont ever buy one. Which is a shame, because I like the look of that gen's Type-S too. The 3rd gen TL-S is still one of the best looking cars ever made in my opinion.
And the Legacy as a model has generally been a pretty sedate car. I do, however, like the Spec-B that ran from 06-08. STI suspension, the STI 6-Speed, and a custom Brick Red interior makes for a stealth cold killer.

My 2000 TL has actually not had a transmission problem yet for some reason. BWAHAHAHHA. Everyone else I know with that generation of TL has had their transmission done or sold it because they didn't want to deal with it. All automatics.
